Friendship Centers of Emmet County is seeking an experienced, people-focused Director of Human Resources to join our leadership team.

The HR Director oversees the agency's day-to-day human resources functions and serves as a trusted resource to employees, supervisors, and leadership. We are looking for someone who combines strong HR knowledge with excellent judgement, organization, communication skills, and a genuine ability to work well with people.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Manage recruiting, hiring, onboarding, orientation, and employee separation processes.
  • Administer employee benefits and maintain accurate personnel records and documentation.
  • Manage HR functions within Paycor, including recruiting, onboarding, employee records, and performance management.
  • Maintain personnel policies and support compliance with federal and Michigan employment laws.
  • Provide guidance to supervisors on employee relations, performance concerns, corrective action, and policy interpretation.
  • Coordinate performance evaluations, background checks, driving records, workers' compensation, safety, and required training.
  • Maintain job descriptions and assist with compensation and wage administration.
  • Work collaboratively with Executive Director and leadership team to support employees and agency operations.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate has professional HR experience, a strong working knowledge of employment practices, and the ability to independently manage day-to-day HR responsibilities.

Just as important, we are looking for someone who is approachable, collaborative, organized, objective, and able to build positive working relationships while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Experience with Paycor or similar HRIS/payroll system is preferred. Nonprofit HR experience is helpful but not required.
